When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

Okay, so... I hit a bit of a funk early this weekend and thought about putting down the pencil for good, and ~Roonstown suggested I find my muse and draw something that I can reliably fall back on. Naturally, this meant drawing me in the most appropriate scene I could think of. And at the time, I could think of nothing better than a scene involving me trying to calm myself in the face of many sources of pain and stress, represented by the abstract red tentacle-things in the background.
The red background also explains why my skin looks redder than usual. >_> So before anyone asks, no, I did not get sunburned like I did in San Diego last year. I just decided to play around with the color balance and this is the result. Considering how difficult the pose was, I think it turned out pretty good. ^^ Azalea is (C) EDIT: Some changes have been made following some critiques, mostly involving the shape of the jaw and breasts. I also made the lighting a little more extreme on the left side and reddened up the right side even more. The full size version is now slightly bigger. Comments
I'm terrible with detail, so I'll be quick.
The shading is good, the pose is nice, the background contrasts with you, making you stand out more. All in all, this could only be better if it had pudding - The picture eez lovely -- Writer of the Super Food Group comic ----> [link] Found in here! I'm Cid in dA's Final Fantasy IV Crew! beautifull
-- When There is True LOVE I'm an Elohim Life Form (Elf) & I am Raelian [link] Who believes In True Love and Sensuality .:: Deviant Appreciation Day is everyday It looks to me like you've improved. I really like how the face and hair came out, and there seems to be a sort of cartoony charm to it, which is always a plus in my book (but then again, I'm biased).
-- I remember back in the day in 'Nam, when me and the other fellers used to eat pataters every meal o' the day. Sometimes they was mashed. Others was fried. But one thing always remained: They was pataters. I like this. Looking back on the works you have done in the past, this really reflects your growth as an artist. And the symbology behind the background is truly brilliant. Here's hoping you can keep that muse going and produce even more wonderful artwork and prose. Don't let those red tentacles hold you down!
-- ~Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity. I'm gonna critique here because I'm not gonna give dA money just to use the critique feature
- The boobs look unnatural. Please give them smoother curves at the top. - She has no clavicles - I don't think her upper right hand would be hidden by her hair like that at that angle - Her ear and chin are too far behind. They should align to the middle of the neck - The hands seems to differ in shape and finger proportion. The upper left hand seems to be the most accurate one. |

Speaking of the skirt, though, from my point of view doesn't exhibit as much movement as the rest of the piece as I can't make out any lines indicating the position of her legs. This makes that area seem generally a bit more flat than it ought to be. Something else to note is the position of her left arms. I don't believe they should be bending back quite so much at the elbow; also, the outline of her lower lower left arm seems to indicate a large bulge at the middle.
Keep it up and you'll continue to improve, Az.
